Excitation is the installation of stator power supply for generator or synchronous motor stator. According to the different excitation modes of DC motor, it can be divided into its excitation, parallel excitation, series excitation and compound excitation. In the process of DC motor's rotation, excitation is to control the voltage of stator to change the magnetic field, to change the speed of DC motor, to change the excitation also plays a role in changing the speed.
Four excitation modes of miniature reducer motor:
1. Its excitation
There is no connection between the excitation winding and armature winding. The motor supplied by other DC power supply to the excitation winding is called the other excitation motor. Permanent magnet motor can also be regarded as the other excitation or self-excitation motor, which is directly called the permanent magnet excitation mode.
2. Parallel excitation
The excitation winding and armature winding of shunt excitation motor are connected in parallel. As a shunt excitation generator, the terminal voltage from the motor itself supplies power for the excitation winding. As a shunt excitation motor, the excitation winding and armature share the same power supply, and the performance is the same as that of the other excitation DC motor.
3. Series Excitation
The excitation winding of the series excitation motor is connected in series with the armature winding, and then connected to the DC power supply. The excitation current of this kind of motor is armature current.
4. Compound excitation
The compound excitation motor has two excitation windings: parallel excitation and series excitation. If the flux potential produced by series winding is the same as that produced by shunt winding, it is called cumulative compound excitation. If the direction of two flux potentials is opposite, it is called differential compound excitation.
To provide the working magnetic field for generators (electrical equipment working with electromagnetic induction principle) is called excitation. Sometimes the installation of the rotor power supply to the generator rotor is also called excitation.
